Transformation

What a transformation! I am writing this post on the 1 year Anniversary of my kidney donation to my brother Bob. I look back over the year nostalgically. Each part of the journey – the decision to donate, the pre-surgery testing and preparation, and heartfelt discussions with my family – all had an important impact on my life.

I don’t focus on what I lost, but on what I have gained. I focus on the deepening relationship with my brother. I revel at the personal/spiritual growth this journey facilitated. I faced fear of the unknown of what lies ahead. I released the need to know what would happen, allowing me to be present in the moment. I appreciated the simple joyful moments as they arose.

The one thing my mind still chews on – who have I become through this amazing transformation?

Managing Change

Managing Change
Everything in your life is sailing along. Your livelihood feels secure, your family is healthy, life is good. You have a plan for the next few months that seems doable and you are on track. Then some event brings change to your peaceful life. You learn very quickly your level of skill in managing change.

You get a phone call- a serious one that requires your attention and action on your part. A parent requires nursing home care for a prolonged illness. Your single adult child was in a car accident. You have a surprise health issue that requires surgery. There is the initial anxiety of “now what?”  Somehow the adrenaline kicks in and you do what needs to be done. Or you hide in your room with anxiety and worry.

Resolving Conflicts

Conflict -have you had one lately? It seems to be everywhere. How do you begin resolving conflicts? People refuse to listen to another’s opinion because it differs from theirs. What happens inside us to create a wall between us and another? Is is really so threatening to us that others don’t agree with us?

Resolving conflicts- is it even possible? I have spent the past year thinking about this topic. The political climate in the U.S. has been creating a division for years. My question -what can we do?

Love’s Embrace

Opening to Love’s Embrace

My wish for you in the New Year of 2017 is that you open yourself to Love’s Embrace. It will be necessary as we go forward into this year to develop this as a habit. The new year will provide us with new beginnings and wonderful opportunities for growth on the spiritual path.

For me, the new year has brought moments of clarity, the clarity that was obscured in the last few months of 2016. There had been so many planetary shifts that created an energetic bounciness that reminded us to remain flexible as we navigated the bumpy waters. There was a call to release all that was not needed on the “boat” or else drown- resentments, hurts from the past, fear about the future, misconceptions about who we think we are. Hopefully, you didn’t fight letting go of what is no longer needed. But don’t worry – there are still many opportunities to release it!

Finding Answers To Life’s Questions

decision

How do you find answers to Life’s questions? Does confusion reside in you?  How do you live in the unknown? How do you plan for the future when you don’t have answers???

Sometimes finding answers to Life’s questions gets placed on hold. In my recovery from kidney donation surgery, it was a challenge to plan for the future. I had spent 4 months planning for the surgery and 4 months to recover to my pre-surgery health. Medical testing, doctor appointments, exercise, and energy therapy appointments consumed my attention. I couldn’t focus on anything else. There could be no planning for my post-surgery future. I knew the donation would change my life in ways I couldn’t imagine. How can you plan for the future when you are in a phase of becoming? How can you find answers to Life’s questions?

If Donald Trump Practiced Mindfulness

If Donald Trump Practiced Mindfulness

My mind wanders sometimes…

what would it be like to be a spiritual mentor for a character in a TV show such as Game of Thrones or The Sopranos? These characters have mega-sized personalities that display imbalances that are striking. How would they act connected to their Essence and living their Souls’ purpose? What practices would they need to learn? What energy medicines would be most suitable for them to use?

While watching these shows, I find myself choosing a flower essence for Tyrion Lannister. What flower essence would eliminate the self-pity that blocks his innate leadership capabilities? (That flower essence is Bach Flower Remedy Pine.) With the right remedy, I envision Livia Soprano, Tony’s self-absorbed mother, being a compassionate nurturer. The Bach Flower Essence Heather would help her fill herself from within, rather than from the negative attention of her adult children.

I see them both transformed, coming from a place of balanced power, aligned with Spirit. I rejoice at their every advance forward….and then I wake up from this dream.  Ah, but they aren’t real people, just fictional characters.

Vision Boards – Manifesting Abundance

visionboard

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “I want more abundance in my life.” You decide you want more love, money, creativity – more flow. You want to manifest more abundance in your life. Maybe you envision traveling to distant lands or exploring the local foods of a region. You want to learn a new skill, such as photography, or ballroom dancing or train seeing eye dogs. You see a more expansive vision of your life. And then you look at your daily routine….

Okay, so you have dreams of a more abundant life than you are living at the moment. No need to be disappointed with your life. Honor it for what it is. Give gratitude for the gifts in your life…that will help your abundance to increase. But you see now that you need a plan if you want to live a more abundant life.

Let’s talk about manifesting. Some people think think that if they wish for something, or dream about it, that they can create it. It’s a good first step – many call it “visioning”.  If you can’t imagine it, it is hard to create.

Fear or Peace – It’s Your Choice

Fear or Peace – It’s Your Choice

You awaken in the morning. You brush the grogginess from your mind. You stretch your body. Before your feet hit the floor, you unconsciously set into motion how your day will proceed. You chose consciously or unconsciously what you create today. Affirm your power as an enlightened creator. It’s time to make a choice, one that comes from the deepest wisdom within you. The big question of the day – do you want to live in fear or peace?

In our most powerful moments, we easily chose peace. When tired and distracted by the repetition our daily tasks, we become lulled into unconsciousness. Our choices devolve into unconscious reactions. When fear knocks on our door, we let it in before recognizing this new visitor. Often it is a visitor that refuses to leave. We have forgotten that we are empowered beings who can make a choice. Now, what do we do???

Transform Fear

Fear is your call to transform. Have you heard the call but ignored it? It often arises to get your attention. Something is disturbing your entire being, but you ignore it. It can’t give you any bigger warnings… you break out in a sweat, your heart races, your jaw and neck tighten, and your head is pounding.  It is saying “What more must I do to get your attention that something needs changing?”

It’s just a warning sign to be on the lookout – there is danger ahead. You are not feeling safe on some level of your being. Sometimes there is a real danger- a car driving too close as you cross the street. Sometimes it is an imagined danger- a scenario we dream up, a story we tell ourselves from past experiences. We want to either fight, retreat or freeze.

What makes it so difficult for people to face their fear? I’ve found 3 big reasons.

Stories Have Power

Stories Have Power

Stories have power. Choose them wisely.

Children have a limited understanding of life and make up stories to fill in the blanks. They are egocentric, focusing on the ME. It’s just a developmental stage, a necessary step to the forming of the personality. They try to make sense of events as they experience them. Unfortunately, their impressions are usually wrong.  As a child, we don’t realize stories have power when we create them. Many times, these impressions stay with us as adults, and we hardly ever question them.

Some of these impressions are the stories we tell ourselves that often bring pain for a lifetime if we don’t stop to examine them to see they were based on faulty perceptions.

I have faulty perceptions from my childhood. When the pain created by them grabs my attention, I bring them into the light to shift the perception into a truthful one. I hate to cause myself pain if I can avoid it. Believe me, I have experienced enough self-created pain, and it’s my personal mission to help myself and clients develop tools to let go of any avoidable pain.

This story caused me pain…it was a painful story I told myself.
