If Donald Trump Practiced Mindfulness
My mind wanders sometimes…
what would it be like to be a spiritual mentor for a character in a TV show such as Game of Thrones or The Sopranos? These characters have mega-sized personalities that display imbalances that are striking. How would they act connected to their Essence and living their Souls’ purpose? What practices would they need to learn? What energy medicines would be most suitable for them to use?
While watching these shows, I find myself choosing a flower essence for Tyrion Lannister. What flower essence would eliminate the self-pity that blocks his innate leadership capabilities? (That flower essence is Bach Flower Remedy Pine.) With the right remedy, I envision Livia Soprano, Tony’s self-absorbed mother, being a compassionate nurturer. The Bach Flower Essence Heather would help her fill herself from within, rather than from the negative attention of her adult children.
I see them both transformed, coming from a place of balanced power, aligned with Spirit. I rejoice at their every advance forward….and then I wake up from this dream. Ah, but they aren’t real people, just fictional characters.
Maybe you find my little activity amusing, but it helps me hone my skill. My real role as a healer is to see clients as they are, AND to see their Soul’s true nature, unburdened by the misguided choices of their personality. It takes the ability to shift perspectives, to be able to see differently.
Then my mind wanders to another spectacle- the presidential wannabes for the 2016 election. Is this fiction too?
Acting much like a fictional character, Donald Trump pops into my mind. What would he be like if connected to his Soul’s Essence? What could he accomplish, speaking from his heart, seeing the Light that is deep within him? Yikes, I would settle for him practicing mindfulness!
I hold a vision for him, much like what I do for my clients. What is his soul truly longing for? I envision him coming from a centered place, connected to his deepest Self, knowing he is enough without needing to speak. And when he does speak, it would be from a place of respect for others and their beliefs. The voice of love and compassion- wow, what a transformation! He would have no need to seek the limelight. He would feel the depth of his inner world, guiding him in his public and private life.
At this point, I’m sure you think that I have a vivid imagination.
To practice my role as a spiritual mentor, I need to drop my personal perceptions of a client and reach for the deeper spiritual truth. To see someone as the Divine Spirit sees them, I must step out of my own personality and be open to the deepest reality. Even if I can’t see it,

You try it. Just imagine for yourself- what if Donald practiced mindfulness? Could you imagine him in front of an audience in silence? Can you see him transformed into a peaceful presence, one of love and healing?
The importance of this exercise is …..Can we allow ourselves to see transformation in others? Or are we stuck in our mindsets and opinions of them?
Most importantly….Can we allow ourselves to envision our own transformation? There are so many options open for us, but if we don’t open to possibilities, we can not realize them.
I invite you…no need to practice on seeing Donald transformed, but allow for a new vision for yourself. Allow your Essence to guide your life. I am here to guide you. Call me if you are ready to transform. But right now, I need to compile a list of meditations, flower essences, and spiritual exercises. Because I know that after reading this, Donald will be calling me soon. Yes, Donald, I will keep a space open in my next mindfulness training, just for you.
